Weekend Things

Hello and Happy Monday! We made it a whole week into school before getting sick πŸ˜…πŸ˜£ Dempsey is home today with a super stuffy nose and low energy but I’m hoping he’s better by mid-week. We still managed to have some fun this weekend with an outdoor movie night on Friday, a good grill dinner on Saturday and breakfast with Aunt Bean and Uncle Wayne on Sunday!

Friday, Demps went to school (I guess he’s just back to napping now because he took one every day he was at school this week πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€ͺ), Lydia went to Grandma’s and I sat in the queue waiting for Glow in the Gardens tickets for an hour and fifteen minutes! Worth it though because Dempsey was so excited when I told him I got tickets. Lori, Lydia and I picked him up from school and then we made a good fort to play in until Joey got home. I made us panko-crusted chicken and the kids acted like it was poison and then we decided to set up the projector for a movie night! Poor Lydi had to go to bed but my sis, Wayne and the neighbors all came over to watch with us. Watched Chip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers because that’s what we watched last year and Dempsey really is my child πŸ˜‚ He was so excited and happy and I loved it so much πŸ₯ΊπŸ€

A Saturday at home 😊 Joey made us chocolate chip banana waffles and then we took the kids to the park/library. Later on, I decided to clean the grill and it was a fun time having the kids help until they were fighting over a pair of rubber gloves πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ™„ Dempsey grilled us some “chicken” aka his roller skates while we grilled some skirt steak for dinner and you just never know what your kids are going to like when you cook. Steak is fine, cheesy potatoes are good but chimichurri is for spooning straight into your mouth πŸ˜‚ Joey also shook up some pΔ©na coladas on the rocks for us and then we let the kids joyride in Dempsey’s motorized car. It was the absolute cutest but Dempsey was A MESS when we made him go inside for bed afterward. Looking back, I think this was the cold coming in but woof, that was a rough bedtime. We put on La Chimera afterward but I was also so tired and we only made it about an hour in. What a weird movie so far.

Dempsey woke up Sunday with a runny nose and then needed a blanket at breakfast. The Fox and the Hen is so good. They make a mean pistachio-flavored latte! After breakfast, we drove over to Cheesman Park so my sis could take our anniversary photo. The kids did so good posing and can you believe we are coming up on our tenth wedding anniversary?! Dempsey was running all over with Uncle Wayne like he wasn’t sick but when we got home, he told me “I’m afraid I’m not feeling well,” which was both cute and sad. He basically spent the rest of the afternoon vegging on the couch. Lydia and I did some art and then she took a nap and I meant to make salads but ended up hanging out with Dempsey on the couch and taking a nap of my own. Glad Joey could hold it together for us! I did finish my book though and I really really liked this one. I just passed it along to my mom. I made us some pasta for dinner and the kids ate so many noodles as they were cooking and then didn’t want any dinner. When will I learn?? Dempsey had some energy back by then and was having me chase him around the backyard but he had a rough night last night so here’s to hoping he can get some sleep soon and be on the mend.

Wishing you all a good week!

Weekend Things

It’s Dempsey’s first day of school, hold me 😭 But for real, no tears were shed by either him or me at drop-off this morning and I’m so excited for him. I think he will have a fun fun time! We tried to send him out with a bang this weekend, by going to a Rockies game, grabbing Saturday night ice cream, celebrating our best friend’s birthday and making pizza πŸŽ‰ I love that little boy so much and I hope he felt it!

I had a Friday morning mani scheduled and Dempsey told me to get “bright blue, not that white color, like last time!” πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Lori and Chad took the three kiddos to a bubble exhibit and it looked like they had the best time. I watched an episode of Jimin and JK’s travel show, so I was having the best time too. Lori also sent me a photo of their newest inflatable, a Bluey-dressed-as-Janet-the-grannie and I think it’s safe to say Dempsey is in love!

The Rockies had reached out and offered us seats inside of the suites and how could we say no?? It was really nice in there and I love how family friendly the organization feels. The staff is so good with the kids and made sure we knew Dinger would be coming to visit later on. We grabbed something to eat then went out to our seats, where I paid zero attention to the game but had a fun time anyway πŸ’œ Dinger did come visit later on, accompanied by Grimace and The Hamburglar. Dempsey saw Grimace and said “I don’t wanna see that potato man!” 🀣🀣🀣 I thought Lydi might be scared but when we zoomed in on the picture later, we noticed she was holding Dinger’s hand 😍πŸ₯Ί It also happened to be Todd Helton Weekend and they were doing a drone show tribute after the game. I didn’t know if I was up for staying till the very end of the game, plus the time it would take to walk down onto the field and back to the car but then Dempsey was SO EXCITED about it that, again, how could we say no?? He was beside himself getting to go down on the field again and clapped every time they set fireworks off. It was seriously the sweetest and I’m so glad we stayed. Got those babies home and in bed then got into bed ourselves. What a fun night!

Saturday was my favorite kind of day, where you have nothing planned and end up being both productive and spontaneous. We started with pancakes then cleaned out the kids’ closets because it’s a change of sizes AND seasons soon. Lydia chose her outfit during πŸ˜‚ Dempsey and Joey both got haircuts and we spent the rest of the day playing, making pizza dough, Dempsey filled out his first day of school board πŸ˜‚ and I cooked us dinner. Then we walked up to Tennyson to get ice cream. Dempsey turned down sprinkles and told me he was done with two bites left. His self control is something else! Once we got the kids home, bathed and off to bed, we started Furiosa and though we didn’t make it far, I’m liking it!

Happy Birthday, Henry! I can’t believe Dempsey’s little bestie is FOUR. The kids played, the adults wore cat ears, everyone ate cake and Lydia kept yelling out “Happy Birthday to you!” which is the absolute cutest. Dempsey was sad to leave. Nothing better than someone else’s toys, right? We got Lydia home for a nap then knocked out chores while Dempsey had some quiet time. Later on, Joey climbed on the roof to check something out then sat up there for ten minutes trying to figure out how to get back down. Never again! And then I made us some pizza. The second go in the pizza oven went much smoother. I think it all turned out pretty good! We went inside afterward to pack Dempsey’s backpack but he was less interested in that and more interested in his sister wrapping herself up burrito-style in a blanket. He laughed so hard! We got them to bed and fired up Big Brother and now here we are in a new phase of Mondays. I can’t wait to hear about his day (or not because that’s how kids are πŸ˜‚) 🀍
