Weekend Things

We had a good, low-key, park-filled weekend! Dempsey did a two-night sleepover at Grandma’s and Lydi had a single child weekend with Mom and Dad. I really really missed our boy, but it was so nice spending some solo time with my daughter 🀍🀍

Grandma Lori picked Dempsey up from school and brought both kids home, so I got to see him for a bit before he took off for a weekend of Halloween decorating. He’d been asking me all week “how many sleeps until I go to Grandma’s?” so I know he was super excited. Meanwhile, Joey, Lydia and I headed to Tennyson for BBQ and then some post-dinner park time. It was so fun watching her run around and there were tons of other kids and adults there. And then, at 6:50, everyone disappeared. I guess we’re all on the same bed time schedule πŸ˜‚ We got a few photo updates of Dempsey then FaceTimed him. After Lydia was asleep, we watched Thursday night’s BB epidosde and…. GBBO! I’m so happy it’s back!

We didn’t do too much on Saturday and it felt nice! Isn’t it funny how one kid feels really hard and then you have a second one and suddenly, one kid feels like a cake walk? πŸ˜… Lydia and I made some pumpkin waffles and they turned out really good! After breakfast, I headed out for a spontaneous facial. Felt so nice. When I got back, we went to ANOTHER park then our girl took a nap and Joey and I had some down time that included wrapping up decoration buying for Dempsey’s birthday party and me doing a Peloton work out that almost killed me! We also chatted with Robot Dempsey who told us he was never coming home πŸ˜‚

The rest of the day was spent playing outside, glimpsing the first red leaf in our backyard, watching Bluey and eating a super simple dinner of frozen meatballs, jarred curry sauce, rice and some warm pita. After dinner, Lydia got a bath and went to bed and then Joey and I watched His Three Daughters. I’m forever fascinated by sibling relationships so I really liked it and thought all three leads were phenomenal. But there was a scene at the end that really did not work for me, unfortunately. I’d still recommend it!

Sunday and our boy finally came home to us! We ate breakfast and then a little bit later, Joey and Lydia went to YET ANOTHER park and I made salads and a fresh batch of pumpkin granola. Once Dempsey was home, we all ate lunch and then Lydia took a nap and Dempsey “rested” but also wrecked havoc because when he’s tired, he’s wacky! We took a family trip to the office afterward and the kids ate candy and ran laps while Joey tried to figure out what was going on with the alarm πŸ˜‚ Back at home, I made us some vegetarian lasagna soup and even though Dempsey initially acted disgusted, it was a hit with everyone! Got those tired babies to bed, then went downstairs to clean up, watch SNL (which I thought was TERRIBLE), and a bit of Fargo (we just started!) before going to bed.

I can’t believe it’s the end of September already! Where does the time go?? Hope everyone has a good last day of the month and a fresh start to October 🀍

Weekend Things

Hello and welcome to fall! Dempsey’s only been talking about Halloween and asking when we will put up our decorations for a literal month, so to say this weekend was much anticipated is a huge understatement πŸ˜‚ We also got to attend a beautiful wedding, watch a really good movie and celebrate Miss Delaney’s birthday 🀍 What a good time of year it is!

Friday felt so busy — solo double drop off, morning manicure, a few hours at home and then early pick up for both kids so we could get them over to Grandpa Steve and Lorna’s and make it to the wedding by 4! I had been watching the weather for weeks, after buying a sleeveless dress, but luckily it turned out to be a beautiful warm day. It was such a special and unique wedding. We had a good time and I think we were home by 11. Congrats, Steve and Rose!

I only had two drinks and we weren’t even out *that* late, but I still felt so out of it all day on Saturday! Help, I’m too young to feel this old. Since we had the house to ourselves, we picked up egg sandwiches from the Wooden Spoon and ate them on the couch while we watched Big Brother πŸ₯° Then we picked the kids up and spent the afternoon putting up the outdoor decorations. While Lydia was napping, I took Dempsey to Home Depot to buy some mums and then I made us pork Sloppy Joes for dinner. Lydia actually ate some of hers as a sandwich and I looooove when they start doing that! They were both wiped from their sleepover and asleep by 7:15, so Joey and I started The Boy and the Heron. More on that later πŸ˜‰

We woke up to such a cool cloudy morning, very fitting for fall! I made us some pumpkin pancakes and everyone loved them πŸŽƒπŸ‘ We started on the indoor decorations, but the kids got distracted by The Nightmare Before Christmas and then it was time to get ready — LOL at Lydia’s reaction to Joey dressing her in a Cowboys jersey — and leave for Delaney’s birthday party. The “Two Groovy” theme was so cute!!! And how adorable is the birthday girl in her bellbottoms and headband?! I can’t believe she’s about to turn 2. She’s such a bright light in all our lives 🀍 The kids ate then ran around in the hallway outside the party room the rest of the time πŸ˜‚πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Got them rounded up and home for a late Lydi nap and I knocked out salads while she was down. Joey made us some chickpea curry for dinner and then we got those bitty babies to bed and finished our movie. I found it a little slow in the beginning but it really grew on me and the last ten minutes were very emotional πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯Ί

Dempsey is home today with Cold #2 of the school year but I am hoping he bounces back quickly and the rest of us can stay healthy! Wish us luck 😊
