Weekend Things

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! We had a very chill weekend hanging out at home, then got together with my family to eat corned beef and cabbage. It’s sometimes more work to keep the kids occupied and entertained at home, but it was nice enough to get outside a bunch, so it was a good time 🤍 Don’t get me started on Lydia’s nap protest though 😬

I didn’t take a single picture on Friday but leftovers and an early bedtime will do that to ya! Saturday, Joey made us all waffles and then the kids played outside while Joey and I alternated going on a run. Before lunch, the kids helped me bake some Lucky Charms cupcakes. They had an important task of removing all the marshmallows from the cereal and they took it very seriously 😂 After lunch, we tried to get Lydia down for a nap and Joey and Dempsey took a trip to Target but at 2:30 we gave up and I walked with the kids to Tennyson where Joey met us post-haircut. Stopped at the coffee shop then the park to play until we were ready to head home and warm up.

Back at home, the kids helped me make the green frosting and then we all got to have a cupcake snack. The kids definitely just ate the frosting and marshmallows off the top though 😂 For dinner, we made naan pizza (we were UP in the kitchen this weekend!) and how cute is Lydia putting honey on her own pizza crust? We finished up Ron’s Gone Wrong and started Moana 2 before putting the kids to bed. TWO-year old no nap Lydia is definitely less of a mess than FOUR-year old no nap Dempsey but she was loopy at bedtime. They both were asleep in minutes!

The kids were silly right off the bat on Sunday morning. I found Dempsey reading my book in the closet and then we hid from giants for a bit while Joey went to pick up biscuit sandwiches for breakfast. The rest of the day involved another trip to the park for Joey and the kids while I had some alone time to workout and start lunch salads, then lots of laundry, another nap protest, Legos and Frozen II with Dempsey and we did some Easter crafting before leaving for my parents’. We had a good time playing over there and eating corned beef. The cabbage is always my favorite part 😂 Got the kids home and to bed then cleaned up our sink full of dishes and went to bed ourselves.

I hope everyone has a good day!

Weekend Things

What a good weekend we had 🥰😊 We had a good mix of down time and playtime, stay at home time and out and about time, homecooked meal time and going out to dinner time. And with Daylight Saving Time starting, we had extra light on Sunday evening and got to play outside after dinner. THE BEST!

Dempsey had Friday off from school, so I dropped both kids off at Grandma Lori’s then headed to my manicure. Got back home to work and do a much needed toy rotation and then once Joey and the kids were home for the evening, we just did a simple dinner of leftovers and started watching Hitpig with the kids. I love a movie night for the four of us 🤍 After the kids went to bed, Joey and I started Nosferatu but more on that later.

Saturday started with pancakes and then we spent the first half of the day at home. Joey and I both went on a run, the kids both got day time baths, groceries were delivered (the kids brought every single item one by one from the front door to the kitchen for me 😂), laundry was done and salads were made and then we left the house for the second half of the day. Hit up the museum (the space area was our favorite part) then headed to White Pie for dinner. Dempsey was so into that giant puff and the hot honey and Lydia is a meatball fan. We hadn’t been there since it opened in 2017!!!! But I’m really glad we re-visited. Back at home, we finished Hitpig with the kids (they gave it two thumbs up) and Nosferatu after they went to bed. Honestly, I LOVED it! Visually STUNNING and I was so invested in the story and the performances. Thought Lily-Rose Depp was phenomenal. I guess I’m back in on Robert Eggers 😋 Joey really liked it too!

Sunday 🤍 There are plenty of weeks where we leave all our chores for Sunday but it felt so nice to have that all out of the way. We had started a book Saturday night and Dempsey was ready to finish it first thing Sunday 🥺 May he always be so into books. Afterward, breakfast and then Joey took the kids to the park so I could do a quick workout and meet them afterward. I walked all the way to Tennyson before I realized they had gone to the lake 🤦‍♀️ Made it to them just in time to leave and head back home. Whoops! We all had lunch and I attempted to put Lydia down for a nap that she never actually took and then Grandma Sheila came over to watch the kids, so Joey and I could go see Mickey 17. It’s not perfect and it’s a little shaggy toward the end, but I still liked it. I’m guessing Robert Pattinson’s performance will be divisive but it really worked for me! Mostly I just love Steven Yeun, okay? Back at home, we said goodbye to Grandma and I made us some miso-glazed salmon with ramen noodles. Dempsey is a salmon and broccoli fan and Lydia can slurp a ramen noodle like nobody’s business. Joey and I liked it all. After dinner, we scooted and biked in the backyard and it made my heart so happy. Dempsey has always been my cautious child but he’s come such a long way with climbing and riding things 😍 We got the kids to bed and watched The White Lotus. Hope you all have a good week!
