Weekend Things

We had a fun and busy weekend! And even though I am getting over a dumb little cold, looking over our pictures from the past three days is making me feel happy 🥰

Dempsey was off from school on Friday, so I dropped both kiddos off at Grandma’s that morning then spent the day juggling work, cleaning the fridge and running an errand. Joey brought them home that evening and we did quick dinner and baths, so we could have a movie night. We’ve watched Sonic 3 so many times, but here we go again! We got them to bed, then watched Top Chef before our own bedtime.

Saturday started with carrot cake pancakes! I was worried the kids wouldn’t like them but they did 👏 Afterward, Joey suggested we go buy plants for our front yard, so we headed to Echter’s, which I looooved! So so tempted to buy all our backyard flowers but one project at a time. Dempsey did convince us to get a poppy though 😍 Back at home, lunch and a nap for Lydi and then Dempsey and I hung out for a bit in the backyard and I really loved it. He’s so sweet 🤍

After Lydia’s nap, we got everyone ready and loaded into the car to head to our best friends’ house! Dempsey absolutely fell asleep on the way there, while Lydia entertained us by sticking a gummy to her face 😂 We had a really excellent dinner (literally love it so much that Mason always wants me to sit next to him at the table 🥺) and then the kids had a BLAST playing outside together. I don’t know how not to have anxiety any time kids are playing near a street, but I’m trying my best to teach them how to be safe. We all had rainbow popsicles then chased our two around before finally getting them in the car to head home. I knew Lydia was tired because she kept begging me to hold her on the drive. Got them to bed then basically went right to bed ourselves. A fun fun night!

We all slept in on Sunday, then had overnight oats for breakfast. I whipped out salads shortly after, then hung with our kids and the neighbor kids while Joey did some more planting in the front yard. Around 11, Aunt Bean and Uncle Wayne come over to watch the kids, so Joey and I could go to the symphony again! We told Dempsey we were going without him this time but there would only be music and no live animals, so it would be a little more boring 😂 We had lunch at The Hampton Social before and it was really good! As for the symphony, it was a really fun and interesting experience, even if most of the other people in the audience were… ahem, older 😋 We got home around 4 and it seemed like everyone had a fun time and were tired! The kids and Joey watched a movie while I made us all dinner. Been waiting to make Pork Milanese for when we were sure Lydia wasn’t allergic to egg, so it was time and it was worth the wait! So good. We got them bathed and off to bed before starting the newest season of Hacks. I made it through 3 pages of my book afterward, I was so tired 😅

I hope everyone has a good week!

Easter Weekend 2025

We had a really good Easter weekend! Started with a fun date night for Joey and I and a sleepover at Grandma’s for the kids, then we got to spend the day together playing and dying eggs on Saturday before celebrating Easter all day on Sunday. Now it’s Monday and we get to celebrate Aunt Bean’s birthday, so the fun just keeps on going!

It was in the 70s on Thursday then snowed overnight 🤪 Dempsey went out to brush the snow off the tulips because he’s thoughtful like that. I worked then left to get my nails done and drove straight from my mani to the movie theater to see Sinners in IMAX with Joey. There were definitely some things that felt cheesy/not quite ironed out but it sure was unique and entertaining! I wish I had seen it in a packed theater, I think it would have made for a really fun experience but even so, a director with a vision, writing his own original story and really going for it? I can’t be mad about that! Afterward, we went to Ginger Pig for dinner and it was BUSY in there. Good for them, but less good for me, a person who’s usually in bed by 9:30, not just leaving dinner 😅

I woke up at 8 AM the next morning to a husband who had been up since 5, opening the blinds and telling me how much he loved Sinners 🥱 Sir, please, I just woke up! We had breakfast (I keep meaning to get those stickers off my side table, but… I haven’t) and got a jump on some chores before heading to pick the kids up. Sounded like they all had a fun night! Before dinner, we dyed Easter eggs and even though Lydia knocked over a cup of orange dye, it was the most fun/least chaotic it’s ever been. Lydi got to try her first ever hard-boiled egg and her face when she bit into the yolk 😂😬 She was not a fan! I made us a pasta bake for dinner and then the kids got baths before bed and Joey and I put together Easter baskets, watched Top Chef and went to bed ourselves.

Easter morning as a family of four was wonderful! The kids had a good time going through their baskets and then I made them a fun bunny breakfast (Dempsey told me he doesn’t like whipped cream anymore and he really is mini me) and a less fun but still delicious breakfast for the adults. Afterward, we headed to the backyard to hunt for some eggs. Lydia ate like 12 jelly beans and then we brought out all the bubbles and outdoor toys the Easter Bunny left and played till lunch time. My girl will lay down nice and easy for her nap when Daddy takes her up and what is that?? 😡 After nap, we all got ready and headed over to Uncle Adam and Aunt Lauren’s for dinner. There were eight kids there and my two were a bit shy when we first arrived but warmed up quick and had a great time playing all afternoon. We ate then did another egg hunt and I think everyone had a good time! We left around 7, after Dempsey got some weeds pulled in the backyard 😂😂 This kid! They went to bed nice and easy and then Joey and I watched an episode of The Amazing Race (I honestly can’t stand Jonathan 😠) before heading to bed.

Wishing you all a happy week!
