It’s August and I almost literally cannot believe it! One minute it’s the 4th of July and the next thing I know, July is over. Our weekend did not go quite as planned, but I think we still managed to have some fun moments. We went to the Rockies game, ended up at Home Depot for craft morning, had a dance party at the library, I got a haircut while Joey took the kids to the museum and then we had a chill Sunday at home, ending with pizza and a ride around the block.

I listened to all three books in The Summer I Turned Pretty series a month or so ago, so it was time to start watching the series. I’m liking it so far! Once the kids and Joey were home, we ate a quick dinner then headed to Coors Field. Joey got us some really good seats and even though we were already down five runs by the time we got there and the score was 16-10 when we left in the sixth inning, we still had fun. And hey, the Rockies even ended up winning!

Saturday was a bit rocky for Dempsey and I. Started well with Alison Roman’s buttermilk pancakes but afterward, we decided to head to Home Depot for some house project supplies and man was it chaotic trying to get Dempsey to listen and get ready to leave. Me and my almost five-year-old have just been butting heads a lot lately. We recovered and made it over to HD then ended up doing the First Saturday craft and the kids both did so good! We planned to go to the library’s foam party later that afternoon but a storm was rolling in, so we played upstairs for a bit then attended to last-minute dance party downstairs instead. Back at home, I made us some fried chicken sandwiches that turned our really good and then we put our tired nap-less kids to bed and watched Happy Gilmore 2. I laughed enough that it wasn’t a complete waste of time but I can’t see myself every watching it again 🤷♀️😒

I got up and went for a run on Sunday and then we all had breakfast together before my 9 AM haircut. I kissed one kiddo goodbye and he told me Dad was taking them to the children’s museum and I kissed the other kiddo goodbye and she told me Dad was taking them to the zoo 😂 I guess the museum won out because they were there until noonish and I had time to make pizza dough and salads for the week while they were gone. Lydia fought her nap again, so popsicles on the porch swing instead. Dempsey helped me replant our fly traps and then I made us all some pizza — pepperoni, white and pesto/peach/prosciutto/basil/balsamic — which made me so happy! After dinner, we took a ride around the block then put the kids to bed before watching a couple episodes of It’s Always Sunny. Dempsey has school today then is off Wednesday and Friday, so I’m looking forward to some extra time with him. Hope you all have a good week!
