Weekend Things

Joey was in Breckenridge this weekend, so I lived a third wheel life and loved it?  Sometimes Joey goes out of town and all I want to do is not tell anyone and hide at home by myself, but I wasn’t really feeling like being alone all weekend, so I lined up plans with my sister and Wayne for Friday and time with Hannah, Josh and Mason for Saturday and even though he wasn’t impressed by any of the dancing I did and didn’t even want to sleep in bed with me, a little dog made for a fine companion the rest of the time.

Was it some crazy coincidence that my sister and I were both looking up a new hot chicken place last week??  Or do we just follow the same Instagram accounts? 😛  The Budlong is new at Zeppelin Station and Zeppelin Station is new(ish) to Denver, so we needed to try out both.  I feel like whoever put the plans together for Zeppelin made some questionable choices as to the location and layout, but this chicken was real good and even better, the company.  I love them both and to use the millennial term of the moment, I felt so seen after talking to them all night ♥

Who knows what I did on Saturday, except I do remember going to the grocery, making some granola and seeing baby garlic coming up in our garden box!  I forgot we planted that!  More importantly though, I met Hannah, Josh and Mason (so I guess I wasn’t really the third wheel, I was Mason’s date :P) at Steuben’s, where Mason showed us his muscles and ate only the bread pieces of everything Hannah put in front of him.  A child after my own heart!  We grabbed ice cream afterward and Mason was doing the most entertaining things like taking a shoe off, climbing on the table and making the funniest faces while eating from Hannah’s ice cream cone.  I love him so much!!! And his parents too 🙂

Back at home, I watched Rushmore for the first time (how??) and it was sort of refreshing to watch a Wes Anderson film before he’d dialed it up to an 11.

I got up and walked over to Huckleberry on Sunday morning because I was hellbent on enjoying an iced coffee this weekend.  Bonus: I finished my book club book!  I’ll tell you about how I didn’t like it later.  Afterward, I did Sunday chores — cooking beans, making salads, doing laundry, cleaning the bathroom — and even managed to sneak in an outdoor run that felt AMAZING!  Finally, Joey made it back home and right back into his arms Andi went.  But we’d made so much bonding progress!

How was your weekend??

Weekend Things

Does anyone else feel like they blinked and October was (basically) over??  Right now, I am staring up at the calendar pinned to my wall and seeing Rockies games at the very beginning of the month and thinking “yes, I certainly remember that” but now it’s two days from Halloween and the weeks between feel like a blur!  This weekend did feel slower paced though, so I suppose I have that to thank for my semi-composed attitude heading into the final days of October.

Fletcher was in town for a last minute work trip so we spent Friday night with him + Hannah and Josh and, for a brief but adorable moment, little Mason.  We, as quick as we could, went home to tend to Andi Dog and grab something to eat (Brider does a mean sandwich!) so we missed Mason playing in pumpkin guts but he was kind enough to stay awake long enough to see him in his dino jammies ♥

Afterward, the adults carved pumpkins — LOL at Josh’s “nerd pumpkin” — then maybe ate double dessert before calling it a night.  See you in December, Fletcher!

Saturday morning was pretty lounge-y and then we made our way over to a 1st birthday party.  When we left, the birthday boy was OUT but I did see video proof that he eventually woke up for his shark-shaped cake!  I got a late afternoon mani and went with black for the first time ever.  I kind of love it!

Back at home, we took the doggy on a walk then remembered a few things we’d been wanting to do, aka putting “B-O-O-K-S” letters on the little library and planting garlic!  The first project turned out GREAT (thanks, Joey ♥) and hopefully by the spring, we’ll know if the second one turned out as well.  Spicy Kale and Coconut Fried Rice — I loved the addition of the coconut flakes! — and The Witches of Eastwick rounded out the night.  No offense to Cher, who is a goddamned queen, but that movie is not great.

First thing Sunday, we got up and went for a run!  I was sort of impressed with myself.  Afterward, I made up these Pumpkin Spice Pancakes, which were delicious but I think I liked the ones from two weeks ago better and I also should have photographed Joey’s plate instead because it was all decked out in powdered sugar and looked better than mine.  Joey headed out to watch football, so I did one boring chore (cleaning the bathroom, boo) and one fun “chore” (homemade chai!) before heading out myself to do some shopping.  It was actually a very successful trip too!

Back at home, I read in the backyard for a bit and you would not believe how nice it was outside!  Upper 70s and sunshine ♥  We sat out there to do our monthly “get your head in the game for next month” meeting before walking Andi and cooking dinner.  We made this One-Pan Baked Salmon and watched Clue (we recorded all the Halloween movies on Free Form in case you couldn’t tell :P).  I loved both!

Happy Monday!
