Weekend Things

Good morning and Happy Monday! We had a good weekend that included a Friday dinner out, a park playdate, the Fall Festival, a family get together, donuts with Aunt Bean and Uncle Wayne, a really good Sunday night dinner and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! The kids are so fun together lately and Spooky Season is a family favorite. We have been having a good good time 🤍

Considered cooking dinner but by the time Joey got home, going out seemed the better/easier option. To Edgewater we go! I tried the new dumpling spot but it wasn’t my favorite. Oh well. The kids ran around on the brewery patio, then, because they weren’t already acting crazy, we got them ice cream 😂 Got them home and into bed before watching Thursday’s episode of Big Brother.

Saturday started with a couch cuddle while Joey made us chocolate chip banana bread pancakes. Dempsey was in a bit of a mood but the rest of the day’s activities seemed to turn it around for him. The parent committee organized another park playdate and I’m really enjoying getting together with his classmates and their parents, even though it was so hot! Afterward, we headed home and got Lydia fed and off to her nap and Joey and Dempsey headed to the Fall Festival at the school. The report was Chicago dogs, pumpkin witch tattoos, games and a haunted house that they decided would be too scary. I think they had fun! Meanwhile, I ate lunch in my own house without a child in my lap 😂

Once Lydia was up, the kids got baths and I made a big fall salad for our get together with Joey’s side of the family. We were celebrating all the October birthdays and it was such a good time. I love seeing all the kiddos play together and we’re finally at a point where our two can play without us having to hover over them, which means we can have actual adult conversations. Also HOW CUTE ARE DEMPSEY, LYDIA AND DELANEY?! 😍🥺 We sang and blew out candles not once, but twice, and were home with the kids in bed by 9. Lydia was wiped and fell asleep in the car, but she went right back down after getting her in her pajamas and reading a few books. Joey and I went downstairs to start GBBO but only made it halfway so I guess we were wiped too!

I got up and went on a run Sunday morning and it was much chillier than I expected! The kids slept in till 7:30 and 8! We all ate breakfast then met my sis and Wayne up on Tennyson. I stood in the long line at the newly opened The Salty Donut then brought coffee and donuts to the park, where everyone else was. The vegan donut was really good! We lost track of time, so lunch and naptime was later than usual but it all worked out. While Lydia slept and Dempsey rested, I made salads for the week. The rest of the day was spent playing and Joey and I tag-teamed dinner which turned out really good and Dempsey ate it all, so I was very happy! Lydia ate three servings of rice 😂 Had a bathroom dance party while we brushed our teeth then got the kiddos to bed, finished GBBO and watched BB but I was soooo tired and went right to bed after, while Joey stayed up to watch the Cowboys game 🙄

I hope everyone has a fun week!

Weekend Things

We had a good, low-key, park-filled weekend! Dempsey did a two-night sleepover at Grandma’s and Lydi had a single child weekend with Mom and Dad. I really really missed our boy, but it was so nice spending some solo time with my daughter 🤍🤍

Grandma Lori picked Dempsey up from school and brought both kids home, so I got to see him for a bit before he took off for a weekend of Halloween decorating. He’d been asking me all week “how many sleeps until I go to Grandma’s?” so I know he was super excited. Meanwhile, Joey, Lydia and I headed to Tennyson for BBQ and then some post-dinner park time. It was so fun watching her run around and there were tons of other kids and adults there. And then, at 6:50, everyone disappeared. I guess we’re all on the same bed time schedule 😂 We got a few photo updates of Dempsey then FaceTimed him. After Lydia was asleep, we watched Thursday night’s BB epidosde and…. GBBO! I’m so happy it’s back!

We didn’t do too much on Saturday and it felt nice! Isn’t it funny how one kid feels really hard and then you have a second one and suddenly, one kid feels like a cake walk? 😅 Lydia and I made some pumpkin waffles and they turned out really good! After breakfast, I headed out for a spontaneous facial. Felt so nice. When I got back, we went to ANOTHER park then our girl took a nap and Joey and I had some down time that included wrapping up decoration buying for Dempsey’s birthday party and me doing a Peloton work out that almost killed me! We also chatted with Robot Dempsey who told us he was never coming home 😂

The rest of the day was spent playing outside, glimpsing the first red leaf in our backyard, watching Bluey and eating a super simple dinner of frozen meatballs, jarred curry sauce, rice and some warm pita. After dinner, Lydia got a bath and went to bed and then Joey and I watched His Three Daughters. I’m forever fascinated by sibling relationships so I really liked it and thought all three leads were phenomenal. But there was a scene at the end that really did not work for me, unfortunately. I’d still recommend it!

Sunday and our boy finally came home to us! We ate breakfast and then a little bit later, Joey and Lydia went to YET ANOTHER park and I made salads and a fresh batch of pumpkin granola. Once Dempsey was home, we all ate lunch and then Lydia took a nap and Dempsey “rested” but also wrecked havoc because when he’s tired, he’s wacky! We took a family trip to the office afterward and the kids ate candy and ran laps while Joey tried to figure out what was going on with the alarm 😂 Back at home, I made us some vegetarian lasagna soup and even though Dempsey initially acted disgusted, it was a hit with everyone! Got those tired babies to bed, then went downstairs to clean up, watch SNL (which I thought was TERRIBLE), and a bit of Fargo (we just started!) before going to bed.

I can’t believe it’s the end of September already! Where does the time go?? Hope everyone has a good last day of the month and a fresh start to October 🤍
