Weekend Things

What a good weekend we had! A low-key Friday, a productive but relaxing Saturday and a busy but wonderful Sunday.

Friday night continues to go too fast 😞 Dinner as soon as the kids get home and bedtime almost as soon as dinner is over. Afterward, we started Top Chef, but my new MO is to fall asleep on the couch every night so we didn’t make it far 😂

Up bright and early for breakfast with Grandpa Steve and Lorna. The Fox and The Hen was surprisingly busy at 8 AM! Lydi passed her baked milk food challenge this week so she finally got to enjoy the muffin of the day 🎉 Afterward, we hit up the park. Lydi was demanding we all take a turn on that bouncy three-seat thing and Dempsey just wants to swing 😂

The second half of the day was so chill. Dempsey and Joey went to swim and a couple of open houses while Lydia napped and I made salads and then we all played outside, ate a good pasta dinner, puzzled and got the kids to bed. We finished Top Chef then exercised some self control and went to bed early since had a race to run in the morning!

Look, we ran a race! Joey’s first since 2021 and my first since 2019! Our company put together a relay team last year and Joey was supposed to run but got sick a few days before and had to bail. We made it this year though and, personally, I had a really fun time. Joey, who barely trained and ran 6 miles, maybe had less fun 😂 Chad and Lori were kind enough to pick us and the kids up and drop each of us at our respective start lines. I based my pace off of what I’ve been running at home, but since our first three runners were fast, I was up front with people speeding past me and it was so hard to slow my own pace. I ended running like a full minute (if not more) faster than I thought I would! Luckily, Bobby was there early and was ready for me to pass the baton earlier than planned but Joey, Lori, Chad, Demps and Lyds didn’t make it over until after I had crossed through. I know they felt bad, but I was my own fault! 🤦‍♀️ I still thought it was all great fun!

Back at home, Lyds snuck in a quick nap and Joey and I cleaned ourselves up before heading out to Landon’s first birthday party! They did a golf theme and it turned out so cute. Both of my children were obsessed with that golf cart and I had quite a time literally pulling them out of there 🙄 We had a fun time and I hope Landon did too! My parents were there and took Dempsey home with them for a sleepover, so it was just Joey, Lyds and I back at home. We were all so tired, but ended up cleaning out Lydia’s closet and then Joey left for the Nuggets game, so I got some one-on-one time with my loopy little girl, who’d been up since 11:30. We ate dinner, played and then I put her to bed and fired up The Idea of You. The internet tells me it’s a Harry Styles fan-fic but I thought it was pretty good. Anne Hathaway is just so beautiful, you know?

Wishing you all a Happy Monday!

Mother’s Day Weekend 2024

How was everyone’s weekend? Ours was BUSY and I’m already feeling burnt out on May when we’re only 13 days in 😩 I fit in too many appointments on Friday, followed by two Saturday events and then we hosted Mother’s Day brunch at our house. To top it all off, we’ve been doing some sleep training with our Lydi girl and it has me feeling pretty emotional. All that being said, it was a lovely Mother’s Day and I felt so loved and appreciated and thankful to be a mom and have so many wonderful moms by my side 🩷🥰

Got my toes fixed, my nails done, my groceries delivered, dinner cooked and did some work on Friday and then we had a relaxing dinner at home with the kids. We ended up hiring a sleep consultant to help us with both kids so we started with Lydi on Friday and I won’t lie, bedtime was rough 😢 She slept through the night for the first time in a looooong time though and I even had to wake her up in the morning!

Saturday morning, we got ourselves ready and headed out for breakfast at Rise & Shine. Lydi can’t eat eggs or a biscuit but she loves a hash brown! Dempsey wanted a plain biscuit with jam then asked for some of my sausage and egg and made himself a sandwich 😂 Afterward, we took them to the park at Sloan’s Lake to play before the Cystic Fibrosis walk. It was a really nice morning for it 😊 Got everyone back home for lunch and got Lydia down for her nap then packed back up and headed to Senora’s first birthday party. It was such a sweet celebration and what a joy to see all the kids together. Dempsey got nailed in the head by a football but it was otherwise a lovely time. Back at home, leftovers, bath and bedtime for the kids and then me falling asleep on the couch afterward 😂

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommies! I woke up to presents from my babies (and their dad) then had until 10 to get ourselves and the house ready for brunch. It was a really nice gathering. Crazy to think Lauren was going to the hospital last Mother’s Day and now Landon is days away from turning 1! We all hung out till noonish when Lydia went down for her nap and then everyone else packed up and left. Afterward, Joey, Dempsey and I rested on the couch. Once Lydia was back up, I played with the kids while Joey took over salad making duty for me. Then the sun came out!!! So we spent the rest of the afternoon outside, which was so refreshing. Leftovers for dinner and then the roughest night yet with Lydia at bedtime. She did sleep through the night again though, so I hope we are doing the right thing for her and all of us.

Happy Monday!
