Why Didn’t Anyone Tell Me…

How HORRIBLY SAD Little Women is?  Joey found me crying in our living room last weekend after I reading that one chapter (come on, you know the one) and totally didn’t know what to do.  I’m quick to cry as is, but UGH, that was rough.  Now that I’m finished with the book, I cannot wait to watch the movie!

Not to watch President Obama’s Farewell Speech at work?  I totally missed it when it aired because we’re having some work done outside our house and they accidentally snipped our internet/cable line and also because I totally forgot about it and went to a yoga class that night, but I watched it at work the next day and had to pause and get myself together when he addressed Michelle and Joe Biden.  Like him or not, you cannot deny that the man can give a hell of a speech!

I have a complicated relationship with Stephen King (why does everything he writes seem so pervy??) but this tweet said it all.

How long this week would feel?  I know we do those short weeks every year for the holidays and the first full week of work is a shock to the system but I’m still never prepared.  I had “Day Later Syndrome” all week and now that it’s finally Friday, I could not be more relieved.  I hope you all have fun and exciting weekend plans!

Friday Randoms and a Trip to Nola

You know what I don’t get?  Recipes for “vegetarian Thanksgiving main dishes.”  Don’t vegetarians know that Thanksgiving is all about the sides?  And that they have the perfect excuse to have a meal made entirely of a bunch of side dishes?  What are these vegetarians thinking?!

Speaking of Thanksgiving, I’m doing that thing again this year where I do a test run of all our potential Thanksgiving dish contributions and call it “Fakesgiving.”  It’s supposed to be snowy and 24 degrees on Saturday so I’m thinking it will make for an awesome kitchen day.

While I was on vacation, Joey installed a new microwave for us!  As in, we don’t have to keep bending over to use the one we bought when we first moved in then realized it was GIGANTIC and wouldn’t fit anywhere so we’ve had it sitting on the floor for months and months.  I am now endowing him with the best husband ever award.

I just made plans to go to breakfast with my mom and sister on Sunday and I’m probably more excited than I should be.  I can’t even remember the last time I saw my little sister and I’ve been extra whiney about it lately.

Oh and turns out I took a little trip to New Orleans with my mom this week.  Because I was trying to be one of those spontaneous vacationers and because it’d been THREE WHOLE MONTHS since I’d been to New Orleans and because I wanted to see my cousin’s cute new house and because FOOD.  We celebrated my aunt’s birthday, ate Jazz Brunch at the Columns, went putt-putt golfing (um Emily and I were not expecting to have that much fun!), took a trip to Avery Island, ate my uncle’s red beans and rice and just had a blast.  Wanna see some pictures?
