Weekend Things

Hi, how are you on this Monday morning?  Now that it’s November and darkness is closing in on us from both ends of the day, I’m back to working out at the gym.  Today was our first time back and I think I might be riding that endorphin/coffee high, so if this energy is too much for you, maybe check back later 🙂

Anyway, I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I hope you got to fit in one last post-work outdoor run then made your husband pick you out a beer before he left for the Nuggets game.  I hope you watched a good movie and only felt a little guilty for watching it without your husband.  I hope you got to eat Saturday breakfast across from your best friend, who you might not see again until she has A BABY (oh my god!) and I hope you spent the rest of Saturday being half productive, half relaxed and fully happy.  I hope you slept an extra hour on Sunday then celebrated with pancakes and coffee before heading out to see a movie at Denver Film Fest, then took yourself to lunch because Sunday shouldn’t always just be about meal prep and laundry.  I hope you watched the Shameless premiere in your pajamas and ate a crockpot meal for dinner and decided November is going to be a good month.

Made myself this salad for dinner and it took WAY TOO LONG but then tasted so good that I’d still probably make it again.

During breakfast at Snooze, Hannah told me she was going home to pack a hospital bag and then Josh told her to put his Xbox in there.  I can’t stop laughing about that!  Spent the rest of the day re-staining our garden boxes, grocery shopping, voting, watching A LOT of Transparent, baking granola and maybe falling asleep during a boring episode of SNL.

Took us FOR-EV-ER to choose between all the films at Denver Film Fest and we kept running into sold out shows but finally landed on Humor Me and it was seriously SO GOOD!  We both gave it a 5/5 on our movie ballot and have been re-telling jokes from it ever since ♥

Denver Central Market and Greenseed, in particular, for the lunch time win!

P.S. What if you kind of like when it gets dark early because it makes it feel really acceptable to put your pajamas on and cozy up on the couch as soon as you get home from work?  Asking for a friend 🙂

Weekend Things

This weekend was really really good.  The sun was out and it was just warm enough to sit outside for Friday dinner with Hannah and Josh, do a little bit of garden work and enjoy a park brunch.  It felt productive but relaxed, which means I cleaned out my closet and got lunches made for the week but I also got a Saturday afternoon manicure and took myself to yoga.  I want to relive it all again right now ♥

I spent all of last fall trying to find the best Pumpkin Spice Latte in Denver and decided it was at Cherry Bean, so on Friday, Joey was adamant about driving over to get me one.  I’m so undeserving of this affection, but who am I to argue against a Friday morning latte present? 🙂

After work, we headed to Erie for dinner with Hannah and Josh.  We got to see the beginnings of Project Nursery (Side Note: Hannah texted me a picture of the finished product on Sunday and I can’t keep looking at it.  SO CUTE!) before heading out to dinner at Community.  News Flash: That place is still REALLY REALLY good!  We also walked over to a little chocolate/gelato shop where I tried to convince Hannah she needed a chocolate baby carriage and then we listened to instrumental versions of popular songs while we enjoyed our dessert.

Saturday was just perfect.  We woke up and headed over to the 16th Street Mall because: FREE BREAKFAST BURRITOS AT ILLEGAL PETE’S!!!  Sorry, we were just sort of excited.  We did wait in line for half an hour but so worth it because, turns out, walking around the Farmers’ Market is 100x more fun if you’re also eating a breakfast burrito.  Afterwards, we grabbed coffee from Pig Train and headed inside to do a little work.  Serious Question: Why have we never thought to hang out at one of the many tables inside Union Station??  I need to do that more often.  Plus, it was extra cute in there with all the fall/Halloween decor!

Back at home, I unpacked our adorably small pears from the Farmers’ Market and then we harvested all the butternut squash from our garden and I am so genuinely excited to use them up this season!  Joey also cleared out everything but our strawberries and parsley and then… WE WENT TO THE PUMPKIN PATCH… IN OUR OWN BACKYARD!  Clearly, we were very excited about this.  We’ve got those little pumpkins sitting out on the front porch for decoration until we carve them for Halloween and I love seeing them every time I leave or come home!

I got myself a manicure later on and even though it was sort of chilly and windy on my walk there and back, it’s early enough in the season that that briskness kind of feels good!  Joey ditched me to go gamble in Black Hawk that night but it was actually fine by me because I got to finish The Night Of.  I sort of thought the series was just okay.  I didn’t hate it but I definitely didn’t love it either.  What should I watch next??

Sunday started with brunch for Roman’s 1st birthday — actually, it started with me texting Joey three coffee emojis from bed, but anyway… — and it sure was a beautiful fall morning to be out in the sun!  Roman really politely ate that cake and it was just the cutest.  Also, the park we were at was SO NICE.  I kept thinking “where was this type of park when I was a kid?!”

We headed home afterwards to separately do some Sunday chores — made those Buffalo Cauliflower Salads with Creamy Cashew Ranch Dressing and am seriously excited to eat them this week! — and then I went to yoga for the first time in a long time and it felt so nice.  For dinner, we made Burger Steaks with Mushroom Gravy and it all felt so fall comfort food-y in a way that made me really really happy.

We’ve got a whole week of upper 70-degree weather to enjoy and I’m not mad about it.  Happy Monday!
