If You Looked At My Pinterest Account…

Are you guys on Pinterest?  I think a majority of the things people pin are stupid — and how about those pins where the link takes you nowhere?! — but I’m also a fan of virtual idea organization.  So much easier than keeping a pile of torn out magazine pages (except that I still do that…) and it helps for those of us who need help visualizing things.  Anyways, my total lack of pictures this week (bad blogger!) means I’m resorting to Pinterest to show you guys what’s up with my life.

So if you looked at my Pinterest account…

You’d know we are desperate need of some entryway organization.

entryway

I cannot even stand a pile of shoes at the front door and this is 100% my mom’s fault.  Hey mom, remember when I used to be the one driving you crazy by leaving my shoes at the front door?

You’d know that we have a bunch of steak in the freezer that needs to be used up.

steak

We came home a few weeks ago to a Christmas present from one our suppliers at work.  We were the only ones in the office who got something from them so I guess being the company purchaser has it’s perks.

You’d know that our pots and pans cabinets are a MESS.

pots and pans

I’m dying to make a pretty hanging display for them because needing the pan at the very bottom of a stack of 7 is driving me slowly insane.

You’d know that I’m dreaming of a honeymoon in Europe.

paris

If I do not see Paris and get a chance to use the few French words I still remember from high school, I will die.  Je voudrais une glace.  Which translates to “I would like an ice cream,” naturally.

You’d know that a certain couple of people probably needs to get going on ordering Save the Dates.

save the date

And those two certain people really like the format for the wording on this one!

You’d know that we finally picked a wedding color palette!

colors

No joke, we’ve been telling people we’re having a rainbow colored wedding up until last week… The girl running out catering tasting looked at us like we had 5 heads when we made that joke.  Emphasis on joke!  Hint: There’s purple involved 🙂

You’d know that I’m itching to buy some pretty jewelry.

ring

I used to be so into earrings and now I cannot even tell you how many times I have forgotten to put a pair in.  I think I need some new jewelry inspiration.  Also, I haven’t worn any of my gold jewelry since getting engaged because I hate the thought of mixing yellow gold and white gold jewelry… what are the rules on that?

You’d know that it’s a month away and I’m still kinda excited about Valentine’s Day.

Valentine's

I can’t help it, I just love that cheesy Hallmark holiday with all my heart.  Did you know it’s on a Friday this year?  I think a good old-fashioned dinner-and-a-movie night is in order!  Any restaurants out there who plan on filling the entire dining room with helium balloons a la the Sex and the City movie?

You’d know that I’ve been lamenting the fact that I have no fashion sense.

outfit

Seconds after pinning this image, Jenn texted me to say she was wearing almost this exact outfit.  In other words, she has all the fashion sense and I’m utterly jealous.  I’m currently going through one of those stages where I detest everything in my closet.  Know what I mean?

What’s going on in your life?

Weekly Wrap Up

Hi. Happy Friday! How was your Mardi Gras? How was your Valentine’s Day?

It’s no secret that I adore both of this weeks holidays. And sorry if you’re one of those “Valentine’s Day is just a Hallmark scam” people, but I totally buy into all the mushy hearts, cards, chocolate and love that’s all over on Valentine’s Day.

As for Mardi Gras? What do you mean you don’t celebrate?? After experiencing Mardi Gras in New Orleans last year and seeing just how big of a deal it is there, it actually baffles me that my mom grew up there and now lives somewhere that barely recognizes that it’s a holiday. I bet that was a shock when she first moved here.

I won’t lie, I listened to New Orleans Jazz radio and watched live stream of Bourbon Street basically all day. Then I went home, made étouffée and pretended I was in the Big Easy.

We even made our own shrimp stock and the étouffée passed my mom’s judgment, so I felt pretty good about myself. Except when I thought about how much butter was in there. Then I felt less good about myself. 🙂

I celebrated Valentine’s Day by dragging Joey to the gym with me at 6 AM, enjoying lunch at a new-to-us restaurant and making margaritas for Hannah and I.

I know Valentine’s Day is marketed as a couple’s holiday but for me it has always been about ALL the love in my life. So I’m happy to spend it with all the love in my life, friends, family and margaritas included.

Do you get really into Valentine’s Day?

Do you like Cajun food?

If you had to choose: chocolate or alcohol?
