Weekend Things

Hello and welcome to August! Seems like everyone’s summer is winding down and ours is just beginning! Dempsey’s last day of preschool was Friday and wow did I cry after I dropped him off that morning 😭 But now we get to enjoy some last minute summer fun with him and that’s not sad at all. We celebrated with an outdoor movie on Friday then on Saturday, I got to sneak out to my friend Jenn’s bridal shower and Sunday was spent watching the newest Spider-Man movie then meeting up at my parents’ for dinner. It’s been a good start to the month!

After my little cry — I was prepared for graduation and his last day of school PICK UP to be emotional but I had NOT thought about our last drop off, just he and I and that all of his stuff would be in his cubby to take home 🥺 — I worked, started a loaf of sourdough and re-watched Spider-Man: No Way Home in preparation for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Why’s it so good and fun? I had forgotten just how good it is!

I shockingly did NOT cry at pick up but it was so sweet joining the class for a little cookie treat and to see our boy say goodbye to everyone. He’ll see them again I’m sure since Lydia will start there in September. Picked our girl up afterward then had Blue Pan Pizza for dinner before setting up for our outdoor movie night. Chad and Lori joined us for Revenge of the Sith and I don’t know how to explain Dempsey’s inability to sit still during these Star Wars movies. He even picked it! Anyway, we made it halfway through then called it quits. He came in with 12 mosquito bites and he’s the only one who got any?! They were so swollen all weekend, poor guy.

Started Saturday with a double batch of æbleskivers and we hung around the house until Joey took the kids to Home Depot and I headed out for the shower. I spent soooo much time at Jenn’s parents’ in high school but had not been there since college, so it was wild being back. And the shower was so nice! The spread was beautiful and we even got to make our own candles. Plus Jenn looked so gorgeous. I can’t wait to see her on the wedding day! The kids had fun making rocket launchers and they even spotted a sign saying Halloween decor is coming soon, so you know Dempsey is thrilled and asking every day if it’s August 20th yet 😅 Joey made us all chicken tenders for dinner and then we put the kids to bed and watched The Drama. I knew there was going to be some twist but I never could’ve guessed it would be what it was. So interestingly filmed too. I liked it!

I guess I only took food photos on Sunday 😂 Started with slices of my cinnamon sugar sourdough, which I thought was really good, especially for being my first loaf in like two months! Afterward, chores and playing with the kids until we headed out to drop them off at my parents’ and go see our movie. I walked through the entire theater looking for a movie sign or poster and there was NOTHING. I thought that was so strange. Anyway, I liked the movie. I think Tom Holland is a great Spider-Man, so you’ll never hear me complain about getting another of his movies. I did miss a little bit of the light-heartedness that are in some of the previous films and… I missed Ned! More Ned, please! Afterward, we headed back to my parents’ and helped get the kids out of the pool. They looked like they were having so much fun in there! My mom made some really good tacos and peach cobbler (!!!!!!!!) for dessert. Headed back home to give the kids baths/showers but Lydia passed out three minutes from home and didn’t wake up till this morning 😅 Got Dempsey to bed and watched Big Brother before going to bed ourselves.

We have 22 days before Demps starts kindergarten and 29 before Lydi starts preschool so you best believe we’re going to pack in as much more summer fun as we can! Happy Monday to you all!
