Weekend Things

Just jumping right into things today!

On Friday, I got my first blue manicure!  I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure a lunch hour mani is the working woman’s key to happiness.  Considering my nails are usually some color on the pink spectrum, blue is really different for me.  I’m not sure I’m into it, but I just needed a quick color to get me through this week before I go BIG RED (probably) for my trip to New Orleans this weekend!

Denver was abuzz on Friday night!  Rockies game, opening of the new A Line train from Union Station to Denver International Airport (you could ride for free that day), plus absolutely gorgeous weather had us Coloradoans in a good mood and itching to be out enjoying the sunshine.  My family went to Machete Tequila + Tacos to celebrate my sister’s 24th, which is weird because I always think of myself as 24 (scream face emoji).  I had two margaritas and definitely felt them.  Why do I always think the second drink is a good idea??

Saturday started with this adorable little mug, that yeah, I HAD to have.  It’s the perfect size for the teensy amount of coffee I drink in the morning.  Though I probably should have had three more teensy cups of coffee because I felt like I was in a fog all day long.  First, I napped, second I went on a run that lasted a block before it turned into a walk and third, I got a massage.  MISSING: ALL MY ENERGY.  IF FOUND, PLEASE RETURN IMMEDIATELY.  But seriously, it’d been so long since my last massage with Mom and it was so glorious.  Read More »

A Weekend in Santa Fe

Girls Trip!

Earlier this year I decided my mom, my sister and I needed a quick girls vacation before things got all kinds of busy this summer and Santa Fe seemed like the perfect destination.  It’s only a six and a half hour drive from Colorado, there’s crazy good food and spending hours browsing jewelry shops and art galleries is really best done with a group of girls.  So, we headed out Friday morning and spent the next few days sipping margaritas, walking till we couldn’t walk no more, ogling over the brightest turquoise jewelry, eating mass amounts of green chile (duh!) and just soaking up some quality girl time in the Land of Enchantment.

Road trip refreshment (new favorite flavor!)

My two favorite girls before heading into town

4

5

Olive oil & balsamic vinegar tasting — my mom bought a bottle of this one and it was incredible!

6

Cheers to the start of vacation — this was my favorite margarita of the trip (jalapeno-infused vodka!) but it was also the most expensive…

9

“A Slice of Hefen”

10

Blue corn pizza crust!!  When the restaurant you planned on having dinner at doesn’t have a table until 9 PM, you settle for pizza.  For the record, this one was delicious!

11

Breakfast at The Pantry never disappoints.  I always order the Buenos Dias with scrambled eggs and red chile.  And then my taste buds die of happiness!

13

Marimba concert on our way to the Farmers’ Market.  They were killing it!

Farmers’ Markets are my happy place ❤

17

Why do I not know how to play anything on the piano?

18

Don’t ask how I managed to not buy any new jewelry…

My sister’s response to me telling her we were walking to dinner.

20

But the walk was so worth it!  Can’t go to Santa Fe without making a stop at Maria’s.

21

Sorry about the poor picture quality here, but are you seeing my mom’s face?!  Perfection!

22

23

Did you know Santa Fe is the second oldest city in the United States and that it has both the oldest church and the oldest house?  Now you know.

24

There’s over 100 galleries and art studios on Canyon Road — I think we walked through maybe 20 before art started to burn my eyes.

25

Fun spinning yard decorations.

26

Another Santa Fe favorite — Kakawa Chocolate House

Chocolate snack because chocolate > art galleries

28

My dear sweet mother.  Who did all the driving and puts up with my sister and I despite all the (loving) jokes we make about her 🙂

29

The most amazing table side guac to ever grace my taste buds.  We demolished this plate.

Except for that one time my sister told me she hated me (sisterly love at its finest :P), it was the perfect vacation and I know I’ll look back on it fondly for the rest of forever 🙂
