Wait, I guess it’s not technically spring yet, but shhh, it’s spring in my heart. We had a nasty storm on Wednesday. A “Bomb Cyclone” to be exact and though I’m not sure what that actually means, I know our office lights all started flickering on and off and our internet went down at 11 AM, so were out of there! What do adults do on snow days?
Watch Game of Thrones and make brownies, of course! Winter is coming, but actually spring is coming and so is the final season of GOT, so we’re re-watching Season 7 as a refresher. I don’t remember it as being the best season but man, did watching four episodes get us excited! A couple episodes in, I decided we needed brownies, that may or may not have been made with black beans, which is a thing I swore I’d never do. But then they were really good! So fudgy and decked out in a chocolate peanut butter frosting.
We were on Episode 2 or 3, when they closed in on Arya and Hot Pie, but just before, they showed a random man digging into a pot pie and no joke, it looked incredible. We needed a pot pie! We found a single chicken thigh, a bag of peas and carrots (that we used to feed our dog), half an onion, some thyme, and a Dufour puff pastry, so we were in business! I was kind of impressed with us for pulling it all together, and successfully! We cooked it in our cast iron skillet and maybe ate the entire thing.
This is how you do a snow day.
(Update: We still didn’t have power at the office on Thursday and boredom officially set it. Today (Friday), I went into the office and we had a generator powering our server and they were running an extension cord through the window in my office. So instead of wearing my jacket and gloves all day, I packed up my computer and headed back home. I guess I’ll be work from here (with a little dog on my lap!) today. TGIF!)
