Weekend Things

Well we did NOT have a baby this weekend, much to the dismay of my mom, who wrote 10/10/20 on her prediction card from our shower, but we did eat some really good burgers, watch some Halloween movies, put up our little library (finally!), clean the house, oh and Joey caught on fire…

I’ll be 39 weeks pregnant on Wednesday! I’ll also be getting my first cervix check and I’m nervous-excited. We are getting so so close and I can’t believe it! Celebrated Friday (and the continuance of summer weather) with burgers from Park Burger and man, were they good! Afterward, we retreated inside to watch Hocus Pocus and though I love that movie, can I just say how weird it is that this is a Disney movie and part of the plot revolves around Max being a virgin??

Started Saturday with whole grain chocolate chip banana pancakes (the chocolate is on the other side!) and one chocolate-less mini pancake for the pup. Then I did a little bit of cleaning, a little bit of reading and a little bit of bouncing on my yoga ball while Joey put up our little library and did some yard clean up. We took our trip to the office later, then came home and walked Andi before dinner.

So yeah, Joey caught on fire. We were boiling a pot of water for pasta on our biggest burner, where the flames sort of come up around the side of the pot if you have it on high and as he was standing in front of that pot, he was pouring something into the pan on the burner next to it and thought “it’s really hot” and then when he looked down, his shirt was on fire!!! He literally said “oh, I’m on fire” and then he patted it out somehow. Andi and I were way less calm about it 😱😱😱 RIP to that shirt that had been getting lots of good comments from strangers when we were out on walks.

Post-panic attack, we watched The Burbs (I legit love that scene when Tom Hanks freaks out then yells “take me to the hospital, I’m sick!” and puts the gurney in the ambulance by himself 😂) then yes, we watched Hubie Halloween. I really can’t with that voice Adam Sandler is doing/has done too often, but luckily there’s a billion cameos to be distracted by and we did get some laughs out of it. June Squibb rules! Also, two-thirds of the way through, my dad texted saying he had just finished it, so like-father like-daughter ❤

Well this is the only picture I have from Sunday, but don’t take it as a sign the day was boring because it was actually really nice. We got breakfast from Onefold — coulda sworn I took a picture of my first time having their bacon fried rice (UH YUM) but it’s MIA now — finished SNL (I thought Bill Burr’s monologue was pretty cringey but I’m not as outraged as the internet seems to be), Joey cleaned our floors and bathrooms (🙌) while I read and then we watched My Octopus Teacher, a documentary about a man observing (befriending??) an octopus for it’s year-long life and I maybe got teary at the end. Also wondered what that man’s wife thought of him spending every day with an octopus 😂 Finished the day with leftovers, the briefest of walks because we had “tropical storm-level gusts” for most of the day and like three episodes of The Vow, during which Joey made us popcorn! How was your weekend?
