Last night, I went to the gym and made mini chocolate donuts. Those might seem directly correlated, but I promise they were totally unrelated Tuesday night activities. Because I was actually already planning on going to the gym — let indoor winter workout season commence! — then decided mid-afternoon that it was a good Donut Day. But I’m going to pretend I planned for those two things to occur on the same day and then I’m going to pretend that they cancel each other out. It’s all about balance, right?
We used this recipe and they came out tasting like brownies! But like a brownie made of all crispy corner outsides and soft cakey insides. In other words, a win for us brownie edge lovers. Also, I can see a real improvement in our donut-making skills! As in, I actually measured the ingredients correctly, dough rolling thickness was on point and we straight up timed the frying process to hit that perfect 40-second mark. Getting real donut official up in our kitchen.
Then we ate them plain, because who can be bothered to make a glaze at 9 PM on a Tuesday night?
