Last Saturday Joey surprised me with dinner and a Christmas show in Lone Tree. He also surprised me by getting the stomach flu the day before, which meant he could barely eat and I got dessert all to myself. And then I started making sugar-high-driven demands like “Let’s recap what happened in 2012!” The convo went a little something like this.
In January, I quit my job at Starbucks and rang in the new year by drinking champagne from a margarita glass.
In February, I had my first New Orleans Mardi Gras experience and celebrated Valentine’s Day at my favorite Boulder restaurant.
In March, I landed a job in Boulder and celebrated St. Patrick’s Day by drinking a pitcher of “Strong Island Tea” by myself, followed by a 3 hour nap.
In April, we celebrated Joey’s 25th birthday, entertained my cousin for a week when she came from New Orleans to visit, and watched the Rockies lose on Opening Day (and a million other times during the rest of the season).
In May, I finally gave in and joined a bowling league, celebrated my 5 year anniversary and ran my favorite 10K, the Bolder Boulder.
On June, I celebrated my niece’s first birthday, my 2nd blogging anniversary and climbed a 14-er!
In July, I celebrated the 4th of July by being hungover and walking most of my 10K, turned 23 and switched blogging sites.
In August, I took a trip to Vail/Glenwood Springs, said a sad goodbye to the Olympics, and won an “award” (cough a magnet cough) for most improved bowler.
In September, Joey and I brewed our first batch of beer and took a trip to Colorado Springs for the hot air balloon festival. Then I quit my job… again and watched Joey finish his second marathon.
In October, I saw a horrible Madonna concert, watched Joey’s cousin get married, carved pumpkins and celebrated Halloween like an old boring person by staying in and watching a scary movie.
In November, I saw my first James Bond movie, ate more delicious food than I thought my stomach could hold on Thanksgiving, painted my own Christmas ornament and marched headfirst into the Christmas season.
In December, Joey and I went to Jamaica, waited in line for our KBCO Studio C CD, watched every Christmas movie known to man and celebrated Christmas with food, gifts, laughter and family.
Like any normal human being who is given a “fresh start,” I do have some hopes for 2013, but that’s a topic for another day. I hope you all have a Happy New Year’s Eve and a good start to the new year!
It’s been a big year for you! I’m sure next year will be full of even more exciting things. Happy New Year, Lauren!
Sounds like a damn good year Lauren! But hmmm, did you start a new job? I didn’t see that in the line up.
Cheers to 2013 😀
