Weekend Things

Hi!  I hope you had a nice weekend.  Spring was in the air here, which means it was in the 70s and lunch was eaten outside and our little pup* just kept wanting to go sniff around in the backyard.  Joey was gone Friday and most of Saturday to go skiing so I hung out by myself and then we made the most of the time we had left when he got back.

*By the way, that little pup is feeling much better and must have just strained a muscle.  He’s hesitant to jump up onto the porch or the couch, but is otherwise back to his normal barky self.

I straight chilled by myself on Friday and it was lovely.  It’s always really hard to pick a movie to watch on my own because, if it’s any good, I’ll just want Joey to have seen it too and we can never think of things he’s already seen that I haven’t.  I went with Do the Right Thing (BlacKkKlansman is actually the only Spike Lee I’ve ever seen!) and I thought it was amazing!  What a distinct style Spike has.  Now I need Joey to watch it 😛

Saturday’s weather was soooo nice!  I relaxed until just after noon, then headed into Louisville to see my mom for a massage.  I was supposed to have a facial too, but she wasn’t feeling well and had to cancel.  I hadn’t had a massage in so long, so it felt extra nice!  Back at home, I read in the backyard until Joey got home.  We kept it chill that night by eating leftovers and watching Horse Girl (I’d actually watched the trailer for it the night before but it looked sort of creepy and I can’t do creepy when I’m home alone) and wow, I really liked it!  It was really interesting and sort of sad at the same time.  Alison Brie was so good and as soon as it flashed that Duplass Brothers Productions title card, we knew we were in for something weird but in a good way.

We also maybe Postmated ice cream, don’t judge us!

Sunday started with pancakes (it is so not strawberry season yet, but I must eat fresh fruits now or I will never actually make it through winter) and then we made plans with my mom to see Emma later that afternoon.  Got through Sunday chores before picking her up and look, I was sort of bored in the beginning because I was expecting more of a parody, I guess (the trailer made it look funny!) but then it turned out to just be an adaptation of the book.  Once I readjusted my expectations, I liked it a lot more.  And there are still some funny parts (Bill Nighy and his recurring bit about drafts and screens was so great), so overall we all liked it!  My mom invited us over for dinner afterward and even though we are usually Sunday night homebodies, not having to cook for ourselves sounded pretty nice.  I don’t love a pork chop, but these were amazing!

I hope you had some sunshine in your part of the world.  Happy Monday!
