Mother’s Day Weekend 2026 ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿณ๐Ÿฅฐ

I have a forever cold, but sore throat, headache and inability to breathe out my nose aside, I had just the best Mother’s Day thanks to my husband, who literally took care of everything, and my sweet kiddos, who were so excited to shower me with love and gifts ๐Ÿฅนโค๏ธ Plus Emily was in town, so we’ve had some really good family time together all weekend!

I worked from home on Friday and then Lori brought the kids home — Dempsey made that poster for me at school and I actually AM good at finding stuff but he nailed my favorite music! — and we concluded the day with leftovers and a movie night. Watched Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie in its entirety and it had a handful of solid laugh lines, so I’ll take it. Plus the kids had a lot of fun watching it and eating their popcorn. I dreamed of a life like this ๐Ÿ™Œ Got them to bed and watched one of our shows before going to bed ourselves.

Saturday was such a good day. I snuck Dempsey out of his room so we could let Lydia sleep in and he loves doing that so much! Dempsey “worked,” while I made us some sourdough pancakes and then when it was clear we weren’t going to be taking Lydia to her swim lesson — we actually cancelled them but had paid through the month, so we thought we might finish it out but she wasn’t having any of it — Joey took both kids to the grocery with him for Mother’s Day brunch items and then we met my mom, Emily, sis and Wayne at Vine Street for lunch! It was really good and the kids actually behaved ๐Ÿ˜‚

Afterward, we went to the Botanic Gardens and it was a bit busy because they were having their annual plant sale but we had a great time! We stayed till 4:30 then headed home for dinner, baths and bedtime. I thought Lydia was having a meltdown because she was overtired but I think she might have a bit of a cold too. She woke up at 1 AM, watched TV downstairs with Joey until 3 AM, then bossed me around until she finally fell asleep on the floor of her room at 4:30 AM!

Happy Mother’s Day to me, also waking up on the floor of the kids’ room the next morning ๐Ÿ˜‚ I relocated to my bed, so Dempsey could “wake me up” and surprise me with the gifts he and Joey had set up downstairs. They spoiled me so much ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿฅฐ Joey and my sister also really knocked it out of the park with brunch. I literally didn’t lift a finger! We had such a nice time, I hope all the moms felt loved because I know I did. After everyone headed out, I took Lydia and myself upstairs for a much needed nap. Meanwhile Joey and Dempsey cleaned up tree branches that broke in the snowstorm last week for three hours. Those boys LOVE an outdoor clean up project! I’m grateful because… I do not ๐Ÿ˜… They even took out all our porch furniture so we got to have dinner al fresco, my favorite! Played outside until bedtime and Lydi had a much better night sleep, thank goodness.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
