Happy to report Dempsey’s second week of kindergarten was MUUUUUCH better than the first ๐ฎโ๐จ He already made a friend and I think that has helped immensely! And my Lydi Bitty loves school and just dove right in without a hitch ๐ฅน So, our Labor Day Weekend started out on a celebratory note and was actually pretty celebratory all around! Joey and I rang in 12 years married, the Rockies won on Saturday night, we attended a wedding and we all got together to swim in my parents’ pool one last time and commemorate a very fun and productive summer of water activities ๐

I’m on Dempsey drop off and pick up duty on Fridays, so I grabbed him that afternoon and we headed out for ice cream as A) a congratulations on doing so well in school that week and B) because his sister was gloating that she got ice cream on Wednesday ๐ It was a good time but this kid is also wiped at the end of the school week and was mostly just making fart noises directly into my ear. Joey picked up Lydia and dinner on his way home and then we all watched The Pout-Pour Fish, which was fine, but for the record, my vote was for Spy Kids. Got those kiddos to bed then fired up BB.

A very chill start to Saturday. Dempsey was up before his sister and made the three of us egg sandwiches. He’s gotten so good at this but he did accidentally burn both of his arms on the pan and I think it’s scared him off of cooking for a bit. Mid-morning, both kids headed over to Chad and Lori’s to work on Halloween stuff. My daughter had been over there all day on Friday but when we asked if she wanted to stay or hang out with just Mom and Dad, she wanted to stay ๐ Got some chores done while they were gone then picked them up and we all headed to the Rockies game with my sis that night. We sat in Club Level and the view (plus the nice clean not-busy bathrooms) were so nice but why was it so loud up there?? I also paid $16 for a brisket sandwich that was inedible ๐ But we all had fun anyway and this was the longest we’ve stayed all season! Got my sis home, the kids to bed and then went to bed ourselves.

Sunday was Joey and I’s anniversary! I got up and worked out before exchanging gifts (I’m still mad that he got me stuff when I didn’t think we were doing gifts!) and showering. Once the kids were up, we all ate breakfast then got ourselves ready and headed to Cheesman Park (with my sis again โค๏ธ) to take our usual anniversary picture. This was the most well-behaved our kids have been taking this photo, it took us no time at at all! And they walked their own two legs over to the pavilion?! It’s like they’re getting older or something. We all went to the park afterward and had a great time then we headed home to rest, finish chores and get ready before my mom showed up and Joey and I headed out to check into our hotel room and get ready for the wedding. The ceremony was so nice and timed perfectly on the outdoor deck before the rain came down. Joey and I stayed until 9:30ish when we realized we didn’t know ANY of the music being played and we were probably too old to be there ๐ ๐

Can’t say our hotel gave us the best night’s sleep because why is the highway so close and so loud?? But we made up for it with breakfast at Snooze before heading home to the kids. They had put my mom through the ringer at bedtime and then Lydia had woken up three times in the night asking for a tissue but everyone still seemed to be in good spirits. The kids and I walked with my parents to get coffee/steamers then they headed home and Joey headed out for his fantasy football draft. The kids and I went to the park then went home to rest for a bit before heading to my parents’. We were worried it wouldn’t be good pool weather but it actually turned out to be nice! My dad and I swam with the kids and had a really good time. Then Joey turned up! We got out shortly before 4 and had an early dinner with everyone, plus my sister and Wayne. Between trips to the pool, visiting different splash pads, vacationing in Glenwood and going to Water World, it’s been a very water-filled summer and it’s made me so happy. Dempsey has come such a long way!
We got home around 7 and a very tired Lydia had a pretty tearful bedtime, but once they were down, they were DOWN. Joey and I watched Monday’s episode of BB then went up to bed. Here’s to a smooth rest of the week and maybe some fall weather this September??
