A weekend with zero plans! Finally! Feels nice to be bored sometimes, right? We got to watch some movies, eat some good meals, take naps, go on runs and then my mom invited us over for Sunday dinner and we were finally ready to go interact with other people, so we accepted. Capped it all off with peach cobbler and you can’t ask for better than that!

Started Friday with the cutest bedhead and that outfit my aunt got Demps. I was getting changed when I heard my phone ringing and someone had learned how to open up my contacts and make a call. Oddly, it was to my aunt. I guess we both had her on the mind! Took our weekly walk to the coffee shop and Demps was pretty into the kitties at Denver Cat Company β€

Ended Friday with another walk to Tennyson for a burger. Lucy’s Burger Bar just opened up and we were really excited to try our first Juicy Lucy. The decor was not exactly my style and their beer selection was truly abysmal but the burger was super good! Demps got to try his first ever grilled cheese and surprise surprise, he loved it, so he really IS my son. We grabbed ice cream at Highpoint Creamery afterward and man, I really want to like that place, but…. I just do not. And speaking of things I do not like… my family has been raving about Pig, so we finally watched and about ten minutes in, I turned to Joey and said “is this really dumb?” and he replied “this is really really dumb.” I’m very worried about my family (and everyone else, based on the Rotten Tomatoes score) now π

Started Saturday with some pumpkin spice waffles because I AM READY FOR FALL. Or I am ready for it to not be 90+ degrees during the day at least. Loving the cool mornings right now, though. And Demps loved his waffle just as much as we did! After breakfast, we checked out our garden and our purple Columbine is in bloom again ππ I headed off for a facial and left the boys to play/nap. Later on, we played in our stroller — Joey put Demps in the bottom and he was amused, then quickly not amused π — and took a quick trip to the park.

Not to brag, but I made us a very good dinner! Our pork tenderloin was so small that I think it cooked in about 20 minutes instead of the hour I had planned for it to take but it was so good!!!! Aside from bacon, I am not much into pork but this recipe is just that good! Dempsey was very into the pork and the beets and tomatoes too! After we put him to bed, we fired up The Suicide Squad and I am so confused about this reboot-remake that has some of the same characters but not the same plot? It was okay. Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is the best part of the DC franchise, in my opinion.

Last week, I had made us a Sunday morning breakfast reservation at Stowaway but then Saturday night rolled around and I wasn’t feeling it, so we cancelled. Which meant getting to go on a morning run around the lake and then Joey picked up sandwiches from Wooden Spoon for us! A cute little boy was enjoying strawberries and waffle in the background. Not going to lie, I was kind of in a funk all day and I’m not sure why βΉ I’ve always got a smile for my son though, even when he is standing up in his crib instead of napping or pulling my headband over my eyes π

Headed over to my parent’s around 4:30 and Mom had quite the spread for us! Beef tenderloin, boiled corn and a real good tomato salad. Yum! That was definitely the best piece of corn I’ve eaten all summer. Dempsey was having a good time taking a ride on his “magic carpet” aka a blanket my dad was pulling him around on π This is the third time my mom has made peach cobbler, so how lucky am I?? This was the best yet! Back at home, we put Dempsey to bed and watched both Big Brother and Ted Lasso. I just want to be Roy Kent and tell people “NO” when they try to talk to me and I don’t want to talk to them, you know? That little boy was up and inconsolable at 4 AM so I needed an extra cup of coffee today, but what can you do? My mom heard from my uncle in New Orleans and he was without power but otherwise safe and sound! Hope your Monday is okay!
