Continuing on with the “wow, there actually are things to love about winter!” theme, I thought I’d share some of my favorite things this season. And instead of boring you with some long drawn-out intro that I can’t come up with right now, I think I’ll just jump right into it. **Honesty is the best policy.**
Kettle Corn
I occasionally buy this brand of kettle corn — it has an awesomely short and simple ingredient list — and I love it! For something that isn’t chock full of weird chemicals, it tastes decadently good. My mom bought me some of these cute old-timey stripped popcorn boxes and I love filling them up with kettle corn and chowing down in front of a movie on the couch.
See by Chloe
Okay, I’m kind of mortified that I’ve been calling this “Seeby Chloe” until I just looked it up online. And now you know that I don’t actually know anything about designer brands. But I do know that I can’t get enough of this scent! Past favorite have been Blue by Ralph Loren, Very Irresistable by Givenchy, Daisy by Marc Jacobs and Miss Dior.
Café au Laits
In the past, I have mostly drunk lattes or Americanos but I recently started ordering a café au lait during our weekly stop at the local coffee shop and it seems to be just the right amount of caffeine. My body apparently does not like espresso because I feel seriously crazy when I drink it. Coffee is much easier on my system.
Flixster
Joey’s brother recently turned him onto this app and now Joey’s got me converted too. For two people that are constantly looking up movie reviews (Flixster gives you a critic rating and a user rating) and theater times, this app is the best. And so much more user-friendly than the movie tickets app we’d been using before.
Green Smoothies
Okay so I’ve been a pretty regular green smoothie drinker since discovering them in 2010. Some times I drink them more than others, but I’ve been on a green smoothie kick lately and have been drinking them about every other morning — alongside a stack of pancakes or an apple/peanut butter, obv — and it never fails to make me feel like a healthy and put together person first thing in the morning. That is, until I’m late for work or realize I forgot to pack an afternoon snack.
Sylvia Plath on Twitter
If Sylvia (we’re on a first name basis) were alive today, I don’t think she’d be on Twitter but I’m grateful to whoever is running an account in her name. Those quotes are like a bright light of honesty and wisdom in a sea of celebrity gossip. I saw this one last week and it spoke to me in such a deep way. LOVE.
This song.
I should start by saying I detest country music, but for some reason I don’t find this girls voice or lyrics to be annoying. And if you’ll notice, this was on the John Mayer Guest DJ station, so by association, I am required to love it. When I played it for Joey he thought it was stupid. He just doesn’t get me like John does.
What are you loving this winter?
