We are about to have a week of really cold weather (we’re talking highs in the teens 😬), so the name of the game this weekend was to enjoy every second of warm weather we had left. Lots of park time for our Dempsey boy, plus my sis and I walked around Sloan’s Lake and man was it nice to spend a good chunk of time, just she and I. We had our friends over Friday night for dinner and I had no idea how fun it would be watching those three boys run around together, but it was FUN! Also, full disclosure: I did not take nearly enough pictures of all the fun we had this weekend. Whyyyyy 😩

Hannah, Josh, Mason and Henry came over Friday evening for dinner and chaos and I suddenly felt like I needed to make us a dessert, so I whipped up a quick skillet cookie and what a lifesaver that recipe is! Also, does baking a giant cookie count as being on task on a workday?? I took a video but exactly zero photos of the boys running around together, so you will have to take my word for it that it was the cutest! So happy and excited for these lifelong friendships they will have ❤❤❤ Also, would you look at that amazing drawing Mason did for me?! I love it so much!

Dempsey helped me make some Elvis waffles on Saturday morning and actually, he’s a pretty good mixer with that whisk! He was less interested in actually eating that waffle, but what can you do? Joey and I sure loved them! Forever trying to figure out when we should play with Dempsey and when we should let him entertain himself, but it seemed pretty clear that he was fine on his own with a baseball bat and a balloon all morning 😂

After his nap — I think I spent the entire three hours he was asleep reading on the couch 💁♀️ — I made him a smoothie and we loaded him up in the stroller and walked to Tennyson to go to the park. It was PACKED! Dempsey seemed a little shell shocked and basically just stood there watching all the other kids for a while 😂 Back at home, I made us salmon burgers and glazed beets for dinner and our shopper accidentally sent a celery root instead of a golden beet, but then that ended up being everyone’s favorite part! After Dempsey went to bed, we fired up Flee and I don’t mean to criticize a refugee’s story, it’s just that I thought the subject was not particularly forthcoming and I felt like a lot of the story was missing. Interestingly told with that animation though!

Sunday started with Snooze delivery (why is Door Dash so slow though??) and Dempsey looooved his breakfast quesadilla! Afterward, he and Joey took a trip to the office and then my sis picked me up for some solo sibling time. Long overdue! We walked around Sloan’s Lake then hit up Edgewater Public Market for lunch. It’s honestly shocking that either of us made it out of the plant shop without buying anything, but it’s the truth. Really just love being around my sister and I don’t do it often enough!

Back at home, Dempsey was napping and Joey was working, but afterward we hit up just one more park. Dempsey is still trying to figure out how to sit down at the top of the slide and then how to wiggle forward to go down, so there were a few backwards belly slides, but he’s going to get there soon, I just know it! Leftovers for dinner, then bath time, Dempsey bed time and the Closing Ceremony for Joey and I. I felt like I didn’t get enough Olympic time and I suddenly felt very sad that it was over already. I really liked that little recap NBC put together though. They were trying to make me cry with that Shaun White stuff! Hope you had a nice weekend 😊
